Questions and Answers

FAQ
  • Medical Evaluation

At your initial appointment, Dr. Busquets will evaluate you according to your interests and needs, and will offer and recommend the best options. The recommendations will be given to you in writing, but not before receiving an orientation of what the service entails from the BPS (Busquets Plastic Surgery) staff. You will be able to have any doubts and questions clarified at the time, and you will be informed in general about the steps and requirements of candidates for surgery, and what the procedures entail once you decide to have surgery with Dr. Busquets. The goal of our staff is for you to leave our offices with the certainty that you will be in the best hands and receiving the best and most complete guidance.

  • Physical Activity

In general, cardiovascular exercises can be resumed two to three weeks after surgery. Weight-bearing exercises, impact exercises, and extreme sports can be resumed at least six weeks after surgery. Please note that the post-surgery process varies from patient to patient. The doctor will provide you with specific instructions for each case during your post-operative appointments.

  • Travel Abroad

It will depend on the type of surgical procedure and type of trip. It is important that you attend post-operative appointments, during which the doctor will tell you when you can travel depending on how your recovery is going.

  • Lactation

Breast augmentation does not affect your ability to breastfeed in future pregnancies. For any other type of breast procedure, if you are a nursing mother, you should stop breastfeeding three months prior to surgery.

  • Abdominal Surgery

You may be a candidate for abdominal surgery as soon as six months after giving birth.

  • Sex

Sexual activity will only depend on your comfort, so you can have sexual activity once you feel comfortable and have no discomfort.

  • Infection Prevention

During the discharge process, you will be advised, among other things, on the importance of taking the prescribed medications. You will be prescribed antibiotics, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, and others such as for pain, nausea, and constipation. All of them are very important to take rigorously, but we emphasize that antibiotics are essential for preventing infections.

  • Smoke

¡NO! No more than two months before or after surgery is allowed, without exception. Your health is always paramount.

  • Recovery Time

This will depend on each procedure. If the surgery is on the breasts and abdomen, generally, in a week and a half you could be back to your daily routine, and in many cases, in less time. Liposuction (fat removal) could result in recovery in approximately five days, depending on the area affected. Almost all recoveries are relatively quick, and allow you to continue with your daily life as normal as possible. Post-operative care on your part is essential.

  • Anesthesia

Dr. Busquets, in coordination with the anesthesiologist, will determine which type of anesthesia is most recommended for each patient. It may be general anesthesia, sedation, or local anesthesia. In most cases, general anesthesia is recommended. It is important to note that recent studies have shown that general anesthesia is very safe. Most people do not have serious problems due to this type of anesthesia, not even those who suffer from serious illnesses. We have a group of certified, first-rate anesthesiologists with vast experience in the practice of anesthesiology that you will meet and will clarify your doubts prior to the procedure. You should never fear this detail when making your decision.
