Breast reconstruction surgery or "Post Mastectomy"

This surgery is performed to reconstruct one or both breasts after they have been removed or altered, usually due to a malignant disease in the breasts or cancer . There are three (3) techniques commonly used for Breast Reconstruction, which are the following:
-
Reconstruction with expanders, using implants
-
Reconstruction with the latissimus dorsi muscle
-
Reconstruction with the transverse rectus abdominis muscle TRAM

Consultation with your surgeon is essential to determine which method is appropriate for each patient.
Advances in plastic surgery techniques have meant that a mastectomy no longer has the same physical and emotional consequences as in the past, but on the contrary, it allows you to restore your breasts in a safer way, and obtain a better quality of life.
